After the announcement that Music Director Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg will step down in May 2017, after eight seasons, San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestrais looking for a replacement. In the meantime they named British violinist Daniel Hope as an Artistic Partner for three seasons: 2017-2018 through 2019-2020.
The New Century Chamber Orchestra is a conductorless ensemble making musical decisions collaboratively, while being led by a concert-master. Daniel Hope will lead the orchestra in many performances, but candidates to replace Salerno-Sonnenberg will also appear as guest concertmasters.
In April 2015 Hope was named the new Music Director of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, a job he took at the beginning of the current season.
