Fast zehn Jahre lang war das National Symphony Orchestra aus Washington ohne kommerzielle Schallplattenaufnahme ausgekommen. Jetzt hat es sein eigenes Label geschaffen und plant wieder neue CDs auf den Markt zu bringen. Hier ist die erste davon.

Gianandrea Noseda dirigiert zu Beginn eine kraftvolle und hervorragend gespielte Interpretation der Suite aus Aaron Coplands Billy the Kid. Es ist eine durchdachte und inspirierte Darbietung, die Coplands Musik sehr stimmungsvoll und, so differenziert, auch zutiefst amerikanisch werden lässt.

Die beiden ersten Sätze der Neuen Welt-Symphonie sind ‘handelsüblich’, exzellent und inspiriert gespielt, jedoch durch und durch traditionell. Die beiden letzten Sätze zeigen Noseda als einen Anhänger der schellen Tempi. Dabei bleibt die Musik immer schwungvoll und wird nie atemlos. Feine ausgebarbeitete Details sorgen für Aufmerksamkeit.

Die beiden Werke wurden von den Tontechnikern brillant aufgenommen. Das Surround-Klangbild ist fein ausbalanciert, durchhörbar und angenehm räumlich.

For almost ten years Washington’s National Symphony Orchestra hasn’t released any commercial recording. Now it has created its own label and plans to publish new CDs again. Here is the first of them.
Gianandrea Noseda conducts a powerful and excellent performance of the Suite from Aaron Copland’s Billy the Kid. It is a thoughtful and inspired reading that makes Copland’s music very atmospheric and thoroughly American.
The first two movements of the New World Symphony are traditional, yet excellently played and also inspired. The last two movements have fast tempi. The music always remains lively and never becomes breathless. Finely worked out details attract the listener’s attention.
The two works were well recorded. The surround sound image is finely balanced and pleasantly spatial.
