The National Concert Hall (NCH) has announced Irish conductor Peter Whelan, 47, as National Symphony Orchestra Ireland Artistic Partner.
This newly created artistic role will see him form a close and regular working relationship with National Symphony Orchestra Ireland on an annual basis, allowing opportunity to explore repertoire of shared interest, particularly that informed by an approach rooted in, but not limited to, an historical perspective.
Peter Whelan is currently Artistic Director of Irish Baroque Orchestra and Curator for Early Music of Norwegian Wind Ensemble. He will be Music Director of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra from the 2026/27 season.
