Der 1986 geborene Fortepianist Jermaine Sprosse gilt als einer der herausragenden Interpreten der Musik der Bach-Familie. Johann Christoph Bach (1732-1795) war der dritte Sohn von Johann Sebastian Bach.
Sprosse legt von den auf diesem Album vereinten Stücken aufregende Interpretationen vor, die einerseits der historischer Aufführungspraxis verpflichtet, andererseits sehr rhetorisch und gefühlvoll sind, Es sind nicht nur die Virtuosität und das Farbenspektrum, die hier faszinieren, sondern die Expressivität, die der Fortepianist auf einem gut klingenden Instrument erreicht. Er bringt mit einem Engagement ohnegleichen so viel affektreiches Gefühl, soviel Rhetorik und so viel Abwechslung in die Musik und insbesondere in die langsamen Sätze, dass man nur staunen kann.
