Der österreichische Komponist Amandus Ivanschiz (1727-1758) wurde schon im Alter von 15 Jahren in den Paulanerorden aufgenommen. Er studierte Musik und auch am Seminar. 1750 wurde er zum Priester geweiht, verbrachte einige Zeit in Rom und starb mit nur 31 Jahren. Trotzdem umfasst sein Werk etwa 20 Sinfonien, 15 Streichtrios, Sonaten und Concertinos, 17 Messen, Litaneien, Kantaten und weitere Vokalwerke.
Im Begleittext zu dieser CD heißt es: « Sein moderner Stil und seine große kompositorische Meisterschaft erklären wahrscheinlich die weite Verbreitung seiner Musik. Ivanschiz könnte daher auch als Vorbild für die Entwicklung des jungen Mozart gedient haben. »
Die Interpretationen von Ars Antiqua Austria zeugen von der Qualität der Kompositionen von Amadus Ivanschiz, und Gunar Letzbor lässt seine Musik spontan akzentreich und phantasievoll mit einer schön pulsierenden Dynamik musizieren, um den ganzen Reichtum der Partituren sowie ihre oft ungewöhnlichen Wendungen hörbar werden zu lassen.
The Austrian composer Amandus Ivanschiz (1727-1758) was accepted into the Pauline Order at the age of 15. He studied music and also at the seminary. In 1750 he was ordained a priest, spent some time in Rome and died at the age of only 31.
Nevertheless, his output includes some 20 symphonies, 15 string trios, sonatas and concertinos, 17 masses, litanies, cantatas and other vocal works.
The accompanying text to this CD states, « His modern style and great compositional mastery probably explain the wide dissemination of his music. Ivanschiz may therefore also have served as a model for the development of the young Mozart. »
Ars Antiqua Austria’s interpretations testify to the quality of Amadus Ivanschiz’s compositions, and Gunar Letzbor allows his music to be spontaneously accented and imaginatively played with beautifully pulsating dynamics to make all the richness of the scores as well as their often unusual twists and turns audible.
