Why do I have to awkwardly take out the booklet from the digipack and flip through it to find out who plays which instrument, because the publisher was careless enough not to add the instruments to the names on the back cover. But now to the music:

A light-filled, kind of floating music-making characterizes these interpretations. Vincent Lucas, known for his always soulful playing, obviously did not want to produce anything tearing, nothing exuberantly cheerful, but dresses Mercadante’s flute quartet as well as his La ci darem variations and Mozart’s four flute quartets in a completely undramatic music, free of grand gestures and throughout slightly melancholic and always spirited. The sublimation of the music means more to the four musicians than its vitality. Expressive grazioso is the order here, the most beautiful rococo and also a great deal of sensuality.
