Marc Grauwels und Franck Masquelier präsentieren auf diesem Album eine Reihe der bekanntesten Melodien aus den Opern von Wolfgang Amadeus von Mozart in der Besetzung eines Flötenduos. In dieser Besetzung wurde seit dem 18. Jahrhundert eine Fülle von Musikstücken populär.
Die Opernarien aus Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte und Don Giovanni werden ergänzt durch das Duo KV 156.
Es ist ein Programm, in dem die gut aufeinander eingespielten Solisten viel Phantasie und Können entfalten, um ihre reizvollen Partien auch reizvoll zu gestalten. Bei aller spieltechnischer Finesse und inspirierter Vitalität fällt vor allem das sichere musikalische Gespür auf, mit dem die Arien immer in ihren Kontext gesetzt werden. Die beiden Flötisten beweisen so mit viel Stilsicherheit, dass diese Arrangements durchaus akzeptabel sein können. Sie zeigen aber noch mehr, nämlich die ganze Bandbreite ihres Könnens, die außerordentliche Kantabilität, die sie erreichen und die faszinierenden Farben in ihrem Spiel, das nicht auf Showvirtuosität aus ist, sondern durch sensibel formulierte Inhalte beeindruckt.
On this album Marc Grauwels and Franck Masquelier present a number of the most famous melodies from the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus by Mozart in the instrumentation of a flute duo. This instrumentation has been used to popularize a wealth of music since the 18th century.
The opera arias from Le Nozze di Figaro, The Magic Flute and Don Giovanni are complemented by the duo K. 156.
It is a program in which the well-coordinated soloists display a great deal of imagination and skill in making their delightful parts delightful as well. For all their technical finesse and inspired vitality, what is most striking is the sure musical sense with which the arias are always placed in their context. The two flutists thus prove with great stylistic confidence that these arrangements can be quite acceptable. But they show even more, namely the whole range of their skills, the extraordinary cantabile they achieve and the fascinating colors in their playing, which is not out for show virtuosity, but impresses with sensitively formulated contents.
