Fyodor Chaliapin

A monument to the renowned bass Fyodor Chaliapin (1873-1938) was unveiled in Plyos, a Russian city located 350 km north-east from Moscow. The monument was erected on the Volga embankment. Chaliapin loved to come to Plyos and later built a summer house there. In 1922 however he left Russia and never went back. He died in Paris.
