Following the release of the government’s guidelines for health and safety standards in the performing arts, the Montreal Opera has postponed the production of two large-scale works, La Traviata and Jenufa, each of which involves over 200 artists and other professionals. They were initially scheduled for the fall of 2020. The organizer says: « Given the scale of these productions, it would be impossible for us to comply with the health regulations now in force, be it on stage, in the orchestra pit, or behind the scenes. These two magnificent operas will be rescheduled during the 2021-22 season. »

La voix humaine, previously scheduled for March 2020, will be presented in the fall of 2020 before a smaller audience
