French conductor Ludovic Morlot will step down as chief conductor at La Monnaie in Brussels. In a press release Morlot says, that he has not succeeded in sharing a common artistic vision with the orchestra, so that he was forced to resign « in the interest of my future as well as theirs. » This orchestra’s musicians however should question themselves, since before Morlot the designated music director Mark Wigglesworth did not take up his post in 2008, facing mounting opposition from an angry orchestra.
