The Premio Internazionale Antonio Mormone announced its first edition. With Evgeny Kissin as honorary chairman it will take place in Milan. A series of concerts between October 2019 and July 2020 involves music venues from city centre to the suburbs. The final will take place at the Teatro alla Scala. The winner will receive 30.000 Euros, a recording of a CD with Universal, a contract with a management agency and performances.

The Antonio Mormone International Prize has been created by Enrica Ciccarelli Mormone, pianist, manager and president of the Foundation La Societa’ dei Concerti, « as a tribute to the memory of a man with unique artistic sensitivity and whose energy and initiative enriched Milan and its audiences with many and varied music seasons. », the press release says. « An acclaimed international artistic talent scout, Antonio Mormone had always looked at the world with a ‘global’ approach. »

The Antonio Mormone International Prize will be awarded every four years and is alternatively dedicated to piano and violin. The first edition is dedicated to the piano. Young pianists between 18 and 28 years of age are eligible to take part in the selections. The complete rules are available on the official website www.antoniomormone.org .
