Finnish conductor Mikko Franck (*1979) has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. His contract is signed for three years. It is the first time that the Academy hires a Principal Guest Conductor.

Franck’s first concert with the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia took place in June 2015. He was chief conductor of the National Orchestra of Belgium from 2002 until 2007. From 2006 until 2013, he was music director of the Finnish National Opera and began his tenure as the music director of the Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France in September 2015. At the same time, this Orchestra today announced the extension of Franck’s contract until 2022.
