The British mezzo-soprano Josephine Veasey died at the age of 91. Her career began in the late 1940s and ended it in 1982. Known for her interpretations of Wagner (Fricka – recorded in Salzburg under Herbert von Karajan for DG, Brangäne, Venus & Kundry) and Berlioz (Dido, Cassandra, Marguerite, Béatrice), Joséphine Veasey had a large repertoire.

She recorded also with Leonard Bernstein, Otto Klemperer, Colin Davis, Georg Solti, Richard Bonynge and many others.
