Der junge vietnamesische Pianist Tung Nguyen gibt hier sein Naxos-Debüt mit Mozarts eigenen Transkriptionen von Orchestertänzen. Diese wurden zwischen 1772 und 1782 geschrieben, größtenteils während Mozarts schwieriger Zeit in Salzburg als Konzertmeister unter dem Regime des Fürsterzbischofs Colloredo.
Eine Ausnahme bildet der Marsch Nr. 1 in C-Dur, der laut Mozarts Witwe Constanze als ein Stück identifiziert wird, das « mein Mann seligen Andenkens für mich komponiert hat ».
Tung Nguyen spielt vital, rhythmisch akkurat und auch tänzerisch schwungvoll, bleibt aber ausdrucksmäßig und auch was die Klangfarben und dynamischen Nuancen angeht relativ neutral. Das Programm mag an sich nicht besonders viele Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten bieten, aber gerade deswegen hätte sich der Pianist etwas mehr Freiheiten nehmen können, um dem Vorwurf der Monotonie zu entgegen.
The young Vietnamese pianist Tung Nguyen makes his Naxos debut with Mozart’s own transcriptions of orchestral dances. These were written between 1772 and 1782, mostly during Mozart’s difficult time in Salzburg as concertmaster under the regime of Prince Archbishop Colloredo.
One exception is the March No. 1 in C major, which Mozart’s widow Constanze identified as a piece « my husband of blessed memory composed for me. »
Tung Nguyen’s playing is vital, rhythmically precise and full of verve, but remains relatively neutral in terms of expression, timbre and dynamic nuance. The program itself may not offer many interpretative possibilities, but precisely for this reason the pianist could have taken a little more freedom to counter the accusation of monotony.
