Marie Jacquot has been named as the new Chief Conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester. The 33-year-old Paris-born artist will succeed Cristian Măcelaru, who will remain Chief Conductor until 2025 and will be Artistic Partner of the orchestra in the 2025/26 season. Jacquot will begin her tenure as Chief Conductor of the Cologne-based orchestra in the summer of 2026, with her initial contract running for four years.

This season, Marie Jacquot took up the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and has been named Chief Conductor Designate of the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. She was previously First Conductor (Erste Kapellmeisterin) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Associate General Music Director (Stellvertretende Generalmusikdirektorin) at the Mainfranken Theater in Würzburg.
