Virtuos und eloquent
Im Rahmen ihres Gewinns des Fanny Mendelssohn-Förderpreises 2020 veröffentlicht die französische Flötistin Joséphine Olech ihr Debüt-Album ‘Reconnect – Nature and the Modern’. In Debussys Six Epigraphes Antiques, Takemitsus Toward the Sea oder Crumbs Vox Balaenae präsentiert sie sich als Virtuosin, die mit einem ganz natürlichen, immer leichten und dennoch sehr rhetorischen Spiel überzeugen kann. – As part of her award, the Fanny Mendelssohn-Förderpreis 2020, French flutist Joséphine Olech releases her debut album ‘Reconnect- Nature and the Modern’. Abendlieder aus dem 16. Jahrhundert
Evening Song, eine CD des litauischenEnsembles Morgaine, vereint polnisch-litauische Abendlieder aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, Bußlieder, Gebete und Dankeslieder auf alte biblische Texte. Dabei mischen sich Besinnliches und Bewegtes auf vieldeutige Weise und sind dabei kunstvoll miteinander verflochten. Die Interpretationen des Ensemble Morgaine, Instrumentalisten und ein Vokal-Quartett, zeichnen sich durch Ausdruckskraft und eine angenehme Natürlichkeit aus. Zur Einheit in der Vielfalt tragen neben den Vokalisten die Instrumentalisten durch ihr feines Musizieren und ihre klare Artikulation, durch ihr Hinhören auf die Sänger und die sich so entwickelnde echte Partnerschaft, ihren Teil bei. – Evening Song, a CD by the Lithuanian ensemble Morgaine, combines Polish-Lithuanian evening songs from the 16th century, penitential songs, prayers and songs of thanksgiving on old biblical texts. The contemplative and the moving aspects are well mixed and artfully interwoven. The interpretations of the Ensemble Morgaine, instrumentalists and a vocal quartet, are characterised by expressiveness and a pleasant naturalness. In addition to the vocalists, the instrumentalists contribute to the unity in diversity through their fine music-making and clear articulation, through their listening to the singers and the genuine partnership that they engage to. Hommage an Heitor Villa-Lobos
Die französische Gitarristin Gaëlle Solal hat ein Programm aufgenommen, in dessen Mittelpunkt Musik von Heitor Villa-Lobos steht, neben Kompositionen von Pixinguinha, Nazareth, Jobim und Dyens u.a. meist in sehr raffiniert gemachten Bearbeitungen. Das Album nennt sich Tuhu nach dem 4. Teil von Hommage à Villa-Lobos des Komponisten Roland Dyens. Tuhu (kleine Flamme) war angeblich der Spitzname, den Villa-Lobos’ Mutter ihrem Sohn gab. Gaëlle Solal spielt virtuos aber auch sehr sensibel, kontrastreich und gibt den Werken mit ihrem inspirierten und stimmungsvollen Spiel ein neues Gesicht. – French guitarist Gaëlle Solal has recorded a programme centred on music by Heitor Villa-Lobos, alongside compositions by Pixinguinha, Nazareth, Jobim and Dyens among others, mostly in very cleverly done arrangements. The album is called Tuhu after the 4th part of Hommage à Villa-Lobos by composer Roland Dyens. Tuhu (little flame) was supposedly the nickname given by Villa-Lobos’ mother to her son. Auf historischem Instrumenten spielen die Pianistin Liese Kahn, der Cellist Peter Hörr und der Hornist Stephan Katte Kammermusik von Ludwig van Beethoven: 12 Variationen über ein Thema aus Händels Judas Maccabäus, das Andante favori WoO 57, 12 Variationen über Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen und 7 Variationen über Männern, welche Liebe fühlen aus Mozarts Zauberflöte sowie die Sonate für Horn & Klavier op. 17. Elgar-Chorwerke aus München
Chormusik von Edward Elgar singt der Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks unter Howard Arman bei BR-Klassik. Dazu gehört der Liederzyklus From the Bavarian Highlands, zu dem Edward Elgar 1893 durch einen Sommerurlaub in Garmisch inspiriert wurde. Es sind zauberhafte Lieder, die zusammen mit anderen Stücken (zum Teil nur für Männer- oder Frauenstimmen) ein zauberhaftes Elgar-Programm bilden, dessen schlichter Charakter in diesen Interpretationen vollauf berücksichtigt wird. Der Chor singt, wie erwartet, auf sehr hohem Niveau, mit bewegender Geschmeidigkeit und wunderschöner Intonation. – The Bavarian Radio Choir under Howard Arman sings Choral music by Edward Elgar on BR-Klassik. This includes the song cycle From the Bavarian Highlands, which Edward Elgar was inspired to write in 1893 during a summer holiday in Garmisch. These are enchanting songs which, together with other pieces (some for male or female voices only), form an charming Elgar programme whose simple character is fully reflected in these interpretations. Russischer Minimalismus
Musik des russischen Minimalisten Pavel Karmanov hat Melodiya herausgebracht. Die CD heißt Music for Alexei Lubimov, es sind vier Stücke, die Karmanov für den Pianisten geschrieben hat, der Song Holland, die Schumanniana, sowie die Sextette Nr. 1 (The City I Love and Hate) und Nr. 2 (I Made My Home). Die Musik is easy-going, manchmal regelrecht unterhaltsam, aber gleichzeitig anspruchsvoll und charakteristisch genug, um nachhaltig zu sein. – Melodiya releases a CD with music by the Russian minimalist Pavel Karmanov. The CD is called Music for Alexei Lubimov, and there are four pieces that Karmanov wrote for the pianist, the song Holland, the Schumanniana, as well as the Sextets No. 1 (The City I Love and Hate) and No. 2 (I Made My Home). Zeitgenössische Musik für Countertenor
Unexpected Songs, die neue CD des Countertenors Daniel Sæther, präsentiert ein abwechslungsreiches Programm mit u.a. Egil Hovlands Magnificat, Kjell M. Karlsens Missa Brevis und Arne Nordheims Unexpected Songs, die der CD ihren Titel geben. Daniel Sæther wird von einem 10-köpfigen Instrumentalensemble begleitet, und seine CD zeigt, dass die Countertenor-Stimme auch in zeitgenössischer Musik voll zur Entfaltung kommen kann. Sæthers klar fokussierte, projektionsstarke und sehr reine Stimme eignet sich ebenso für Nordheims expressive Unexpected Songs wie für die geistliche Musik, wobei vor allem Kjell Mørk Karlsens neoklassische Missa Brevis gefällt. – Unexpected Songs, the new CD by countertenor Daniel Sæther, presents a varied programme with, among others, Egil Hovland’s Magnificat, Kjell M. Karlsen’s Missa Brevis and Arne Nordheim’s Unexpected Songs, which give the CD its title. Sæther’s clearly focused, projective and very pure voice is just as suitable for Nordheim’s expressive Unexpected Songs as for sacred music, where Kjell Mørk Karlsen’s neoclassical Missa Brevis is particularly pleasing.
