The Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman, 65, has been awarded the prestigious Japanese Praemium Imperiale in the music category. Since its founding in 1988, it is given out by the Japan Art Association to artists and musicians at the top of their careers in five different categories.

The Kronberg Academy foundation based in Taunus, which trains young string musicians from all over the world, was awarded a scholarship for young artists.
