The Award Ceremony and Gala concert of the Second International Kodaly competition took place in Debrecen and honored the winners of the Conducting Competition 2023.

At the Gala in the Great Hall of the Kölcsey Center the five finalists conducted works by Johann Strauss, Giacomo Puccini and Zoltan Kodaly, the main composition having been Zoltán Kodály’s Psalmus Hungaricus, composed exactly 100 years ago, with the outstanding tenor István Kovácsházi as soloist, the Kodaly Choir Debrecen and the Kodaly Philharmonic.

The Gala began with the Award Ceremony for the two Second Prizes Alexander Sinan Binder (Germany) and Mateusz Gwizdalla (Australia/Poland), Dániel Erdelyi from Hungary (Third Prize), Eric Staiger from Germany (Fourth Prize) and Jiří Habart from Czech Republic (Fifth Prize).

The international jury of seven was chaired by Jorma Panula and comprised János Ács (Italy/Hungary), Peter Broadbent (United Kingdom),     Remy Franck (Luxembourg), Zsolt Hamar (Hungary), Oksana Madarash (Ukraine) and  Imre Kollár (Hungary).
