Johann Melchior Molter (1696-1765) pendelt in seinen Konzerten zwischen Spätbarock und Frühklassik. Die auf dieser SACD vereinigten Werke sind aber dem barocken und dem galanten Stil zuzurechnen.

Michael Alexander Willens, seine Solisten und die Kölner Akademie verstehen es ausgezeichnet, den entspannten Esprit dieser Musik einzufangen. Erfreulich ist der Verzicht auf glanzvolle Eskapaden. Stattdessen überzeugen hier ein beeindruckend koordiniertes Miteinander und ein sicheres Gespür für Molters Melodieseligkeit und tonsetzerische Raffinesse. Wir hören klang- und fantasievolle Deutungen dieser Musik, die in einem warmen Klangbild mit kräftigem Bassfundament sehr gut zur Geltung kommt.

Johann Melchior Molter (1696-1765) oscillates in his concertos between the late Baroque and early Classical periods. The works on this SACD, however, belong to the baroque and galant styles.
Michael Alexander Willens, his soloists and the Kölner Akademie do an excellent job of capturing the relaxed esprit of this music. It is pleasing to note that they refrain from purely glamorous playing. Instead, there is an impressively coordinated music-making and a sure feeling for Molter’s melodiousness and tonal refinement. We hear tonal and imaginative interpretations of this music, which comes into its own very well in a warm sound with a strongly supporting bass.
