Kian Soltani

The jury of the 4th International Paulo Cello Competition has awarded the first prize to Kian Soltani, Austria. Kian Soltani was born in 1992 in Bregenz, to a Persian family of musicians and received his first cello lessons at the age of four years. He is a winner of many international competitions, including the ‘Carl Davidoff’ and the ‘Antonio Janigro’.

Alexander Ramm, Russia, Lithuania

IV Prize (ex aequo)
Norbert Anger, Germany; Janina Ruh, Germany

Two special awards were also awarded.
Special Award for the best performance of Krzysztof Penderecki’s Preludio
Lukas Stasevskij, Finland

Special Award for being the most promising young talent of the competition
Jonathan Roozeman, Finland

The diploma of the Shadow Jury:
Kian Soltani

The International Paulo Cello Competition was held from 16 to 27 April 2013 in five different cities in Finland. Altogether 24 young cellists representing 11 nationalities took part to the competition. According to the jury the level of the competition was exceptionally high.
