The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera has announced that its contract with Music Director Kayoko Dan has been prolonged for an additional five years. Her new contract is extended through May 2022. Ms. Dan joined the CSO as its first female, and youngest, conductor in September 2011.

Ms. Dan began her musical training in Japan at age three. After relocating to the United States, she continued her musical studies with flute and received a Bachelor in Music Education at the University of Texas, and her Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting and Master in Music Education from Arizona State University. She has been awarded the Karajan Fellowship for Young Conductors, as well as the David Effron Conducting Fellowship at the Chautauqua Institute.
