Karel Mark Chichon

British Conductor Karel Mark Chichon (*1971) will continue to guide the artistic destiny of the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria as its Chief Conductor and Artistic Director until the year 2023. His contract has been renewed for a period of three and a half years, the orchestra announced.
From 2011 to 2017 Chichon was Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern. In May 2017 he was appointed Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria.
His previous positions include Chief Conductor & Artistic Director of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (2009-2012) and Chief Conductor of the Graz Symphony Orchestra (2006-2009).
