The winners of the 62nd Ferrier Competition, announced on Wigmore Hall’s stage on 28th April 2017, are: First Prize – Julien Van Mellaerts, baritone; Second Prize – James Way, tenor; Song Prize – Patrick Terry, counter-tenor; Accompanist’s Prize – Gamal Khamis, piano.

New Zealand borne baritone Julien Van Mellaerts (*1988) studied at the University of Otago, before joining the International Opera School of the Royal College of Music. He has already started a successful career.
