The Hildegard Behrens Foundation announced that the 14th annual Hildegard Behrens Prize is awarded to Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Program soprano Juliana Grigoryan, from Armenia.

Juliana Grigoryan has her Met debut as Liù in Turandot. She will return to Dutch National Opera to make her role debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and perform in several international concerts, including a performance in Barcelona for the Fundació Privada Victoria de los Ángeles. Recent operatic engagements include Liù at Dutch National Opera, a Wood Nymph in Rusalka at La Scala, Mimì in La Bohème at the Ravenna Festival, and Zemfira in Rachmaninov’s Aleko at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

In 2022, she was named the grand prize winner of the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition, where she also received the Katowice City of Gardens-Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution Prize and Marcella Sembrich-Kochańska Prize. Later that year, she was named the winner of the Operalia World Opera Competition and received the audience choice award. She holds a master’s degree from Yerevan State Conservatory and is an alumna of their Young Artist Opera Program.
