American conductor Joshua Weilerstein, has been announced as Chief Conductor of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, starting with the 23/24 season for a three-year term. Weilerstein, 35, was the youngest ever winner of Denmark’s Malko Competition in 2009, and since then he has conducted widely across the globe and has forged close relationships with many of the world’s finest orchestras and soloists. He first conducted the Aalborg Symphony in 2011.

The Aalborg Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943 and is based in the concert hall Musikkens Hus in Aalborg, Northern Denmark. Weilerstein will be the orchestra’s first Chief Conductor since 2015.
