The 34-year-old Canadian conductor Jordan de Souza is to become General Music Director in Dortmund from 2025, the newspaper Ruhrnachrichten said. Born in Toronto, de Souza studied conducting at McGill University, Montreal and made his conducting debut aged 20 with Bach St John Passion. He completed a four-year term at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2020. He already conducted at the Seattle Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Opernhaus Zürich, Dutch National Opera, Nationaltheater Mannheim and at the Glyndebourne Festival and was engaged by numerous renowned orchestras.
