IMG Artists announce that Portuguese conductorJoana Carneiro (37) has been named Principal Conductor of the Portugal National Symphony at the ‘Teatro de São Carlos’ in Lisbon. She will take up the position in January 2014. Joana Carneiro will continue in her role as Music Director of the ‘Berkeley Symphony‘ with the 13/14 season marking her fifth year in that position, and will also remain as Invited Conductor of the ‘Gulbenkian Orchestr‘ and Artistic Director of the‘ Estagio Gulbenkian Para Orquesta‘.
