Mit einer klanglich hervorragenden, ungemein farbigen und rhythmisch exzellenten Version von Rodion Shchedrins Carmen-Suite füllt BR-Klassik dreiviertel dieser CD und macht sie damit auch mehrheitlich attraktiv. Gut so, denn den Rest kann man vergessen.

Jansons dirigiert Respighis Pini di Roma als schmierseifige Filmmusik, bildhaft effektvoll und pathetisch. So sehr etwa Antonio Pappanos Pini vor allem Stimmungsbilder sind und mehr Atmosphärisches als Deskriptives enthalten, so sehr wird das Impressionistische in dieser Komposition bei Jansons übergangen.

BR-Klassik fills three quarters of this CD with a sonorously outstanding, immensely colourful and rhythmically excellent version of Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite, making it mostly attractive. That’s good, because you can forget the rest. Jansons conducts Respighi’s Pini di Roma as a soapy film score, pictorially effective and pathetic. As much as Antonio Pappano’s Pini contain more atmospheric than descriptive elements, Jansons completely ignores the impressionist aspectof this composition by Jansons.
