Radio France has appointed Jaap van Zweden as Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He will take up the role on 1st September 2026, having committed four weeks to the orchestra in the 2025-2026 season as Music Director Designate, in Paris and on tour.
2024 marks the end of van Zweden’s tenures as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic (where 2018/19 was his first season) and Hong Kong Philharmonic and his debut as Music Director of the Seoul Philharmonic with an initial contract of 5 years.
At the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France he follows in the distinguished footsteps of Marek Janowski, Myung-Whun Chung and Mikko Franck, who steps down in Summer 2025 after 10 years in charge of the orchestra.
