Ken Lam (*1970) has been announced as the new music director for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, succeeding Alastair Willis, who left the position in 2015. Lam will start the position on July 1.

The Hong Kong-born Lam will continue with his current position as music director with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina. Lam is also Resident Conductor of the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina, Artistic Director of Hong Kong Voices and Conductor Laureate of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra.
