Roberta Invernizzi präsentiert eine bereits vor fünf Jahren aufgenommene Hommage an eine sogenannte Operndiva, die berühmteste Sängerin Venedigs in den 1640er Jahren, Anna Renzi. Invernizzi beginnt ihr Rezital mit der herzzerreißend gesungenen Arie Disprezzata regina aus Monteverdis L’incoronazione di Poppea und lässt nach der Ouvertüre zu Cestis Oper Argia die brillante Arie S’un guardoi mi vinse folgen.
Nach zwei weiteren instrumentalen Intermezzi folgt das affektreich vorgetragene O cara libertà, eine eigenständige Arie von Filiberto Laurenzi (1618 – ca. 1651), und Invernizzi beendet das Album immer wieder beeindruckend mit einer weiteren Cesti-Arie und drei Arien aus La Finta Savia von Laurenzi.
Mit den charaktervollen Interpretationen ist dies eine erfolgreiche, wenn auch etwas kurze Hommage von Roberta Invernizzi an ihre legendäre Vorgängerin.
Roberta Invernizzi presents a tribute to a so-called opera diva, Venice’s most famous singer in the 1640s, Anna Renzi, recorded five years ago. Invernizzi begins her recital with the heartbreakingly sung aria Disprezzata regina from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and follows the overture to Cesti’s opera Argia with the brilliant aria S’un guardoi mi vinse.
Two more instrumental intermezzi are followed by the affectively performed O cara libertà, a stand-alone aria by Filiberto Laurenzi (1618 – c. 1651), and Invernizzi ends the album impressively with another Cesti aria and three arias from Laurenzi’s La Finta Savia.
With interpretations full of character, this is a successful, if somewhat brief tribute by Roberta Invernizzi to her legendary ancestor.
