Arien und Szenen aus drei Mozart-Opern hat die südafrikanische Sopranistin Golda Schultz auf das Programm dieses Albums gestellt. Herausgekommen ist ein Mozart-Panorama erster Güte.
Golda Schultz ist eine hervorragende Mozart-Sängerin mit einer ausdrucksreichen, klangreichen und technisch souverän geführten Stimme, die mit vokaler Kraft beeindruckt und die Register gut verbindet, manchmal im unteren Bereich etwas matt wirkt, ohne an Kraft einzubüßen. Die Stimme klingt warm und das Timbre ist gefällig.
Vor allem aber fasziniert ihre Gestaltungssicherheit fern aller Effekte, ihre Fähigkeit, die Figuren zu differenzieren und jeder von ihnen einen starken Charakter zu geben. Ihre stilsichere Musikalität und ihre darstellerische Leistung verdienen höchste Anerkennung.
Weitere Pluspunkte der Produktion sind die tadellose und engagierte Begleitung der Kammerakademie Potsdam unter einem ausgewiesenen Mozartianer Antonello Manacorda sowie gute Sänger in den Duetten und Szenen. Unter ihnen sticht der aus Samoa stammende Tenor Amitai Pati ganz besonders hervor. Ein angenehmes Timbre, eine gute Stimmführung und gute Darstellungskraft zeichnen seinen Gesang aus.
Wer also einen guten Querschnitt durch Mozarts Da Ponte-Trilogie hören will, wird sich an diesem Album erfreuen.
South African soprano Golda Schultz has put arias and scenes from three Mozart operas on this album. The result is a first-class Mozart panorama.
Golda Schultz is an outstanding Mozart singer with an expressive, sonorous and technically masterful voice that impresses with vocal power and combines the registers well, sometimes sounding a little dull in the lower range without losing any of its power. The voice sounds warm and the timbre is pleasant.
Above all, however, it is her confidence in her interpretation, her ability to differentiate between the figures and to give each of them a strong character that is fascinating. Her stylistically confident musicality and performance deserve the highest praise.
Further plus points of the production are the impeccable and committed accompaniment of the Kammerakademie Potsdam under a proven Mozartian, Antonello Manacorda, as well as good singers in the duets and scenes. Among them, the tenor Amitai Pati from Samoa stands out. His singing is characterized by a pleasant timbre, good vocal control and good dramatic power.
Anyone who wants to hear a good cross-section of Mozart’s Da Ponte trilogy will enjoy this album.
