The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has announced the cancellation of all previously scheduled concerts of the 2020/21 season. « We plan to perform in smaller ensembles across the GTA, including at our home, Roy Thomson Hall, for audience sizes aligned with health regulations », the Orchestras says in a news release. In collaboration with the musicians of the TSO, Music Director Gustavo Gimeno is developing programs that are reflective of the current environment. He wants to “ignite a passion for extraordinary music in more intimate settings and to connect with our patrons in unique ways.”

“Replacing the 2020/21 season with alternative programming is the most responsible option given the uncertainty caused by the pandemic. A constant cycle of likely cancellations threatens to erode the organization’s stability and increases our financial risk », the management says.
