Für ihre neue Einspielung bei Ars Produktion hat die Gitarristin Heike Matthiesen ein Programm mit Musik von vier heute kaum noch bekannten Komponistinnen ausgewählt. Matthiessens Gitarrenspiel ist sehr kommunikativ. Man spürt ganz einfach, dass da eine Künstlerin vor dem Mikrophon saß, bei der Spielfreude, Liebe zum Instrument und zur Musik wesentliche Interpretationskomponenten sind. Dem Zauber ihrer natürlichen Virtuosität kann man sich genauso wenig entziehen wie dem der feinen Intimität etlicher Stücke.
Am charakteristischsten ist die Musik der deutschen, aber in London lebenden Gitarrenvirtuosin, Komponistin und Pädagogin Catharina Josepha Pratten, auch bekannt als Madame Sidney Pratten (1821-1895).
Sie komponierte viele Stücke, von einfachen Übungen bis hin zu komplexen Werken mit Musik, die den beschreibenden Titeln wie Rambling Thoughts, Dance of the Witches, Serenade u.a. entsprechen und von Heike Matthiessen sehr stimmungsvoll interpretiert werden.
For her new recording on Ars Produktion, guitarist Heike Matthiesen has selected a program of music by four women composers who are little known today. Matthiesen’s guitar playing is very communicative. One simply senses that there was an artist sitting in front of the microphone for whom joy of playing, love for the instrument and for the music are essential components of interpretation. One cannot escape the magic of her natural virtuosity any more than the fine intimacy of some of the pieces.
Most characteristic is the music of the German but London-based guitar virtuoso, composer and pedagogue Catharina Josepha Pratten, also known as Madame Sidney Pratten (1821-1895).
She composed many pieces, from simple exercises to complex works with music corresponding to descriptive titles such as Rambling Thoughts, Dance of the Witches, Serenade, and others, which are very atmospherically interpreted by Heike Matthiessen.
