Den Geist Amerikas will Giovanni Piacentini auf der Gitarre beschwören. Er spielt Musik von Komponisten, die ihre Inspiration in der traditionellen Musik ihrer jeweiligen Länder und Regionen fanden. Die Gitarre war das ideale Instrument, um die wichtigsten Merkmale dieser traditionellen Elemente in eine authentische Musik zu kleiden. Die ausgewählten Stücke sind sehr unterschiedlich, vor allem von unterschiedlicher Rhetorik, die einen einfach, tänzerisch, die anderen sehr ausdrucksvoll und narrativ.
Piacentini wechselt mühelos von einem Stil zum anderen, und das ergibt im Programm ein Gefühl der Frische zwischen starken, erdigen Rhythmen und exquisiten, sanften Stücken,
Durch dynamische Schattierungen, ein feines Gespür für Farben und Dynamik und seine Reaktion auf harmonische Veränderungen sowie einen guten rhythmischen Puls sorgt er für eine lebendige Lesart, die dem programmatischen Anspruch durchaus gerecht wird.
Giovanni Piacentini wants to evoke the spirit of America on the guitar. He plays music by composers who found their inspiration in the traditional music of their respective countries and regions. The guitar was the ideal instrument to clothe the most important features of these traditional elements in an authentic music. But the pieces chosen are very different, above all of different rhetoric, some simple, dance-like, others very expressive and narrative.
Piacentini effortlessly shifts from one style to another, and this results in a sense of freshness in the program between strong, earthy rhythms and exquisite, gentle pieces
Through dynamic shadings, a keen sense of color and dynamics, and his response to harmonic changes, as well as a good rhythmic pulse, he makes for a lively reading that certainly lives up to the programmatic ambition.
