At the end of Gergely Madaras’s final season as Music Director, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège has published its 2024 balance sheet. In six years at the helm of the OPRL, the Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras conducted 116 concerts in Belgium and in eight foreign countries, as well as 11 recordings.
Over these six seasons, attendance at the Salle Philharmonique has increased by 68%. This increase can be attributed to the diversity of the programming as well as to the relaunch of post-Covid activity, the artistic level of the guest performers and greater attention paid to young audiences and families.
In 2024, the orchestra welcomed 112,000 people, all activities combined (+ 21.5% on 2023), including 34,000 spectators for family and young-audience concerts (+ 19%). This corresponds to a 90% fill rate in Liège for public concerts. The report also notes a rejuvenation in the number of spectators.
