René Martin resigned from his position as director of CREA (Centre de réalisations et d’études artistiques), a platform set up in 1977 to manage the numerous artistic events that he founded, including Les Folles Journées and the La Roque d’Anthéron festival.
In September, a joint investigation by Médiacités and La Lettre du Musicien cast doubt on the founder of La Folle Journée de Nantes, reporting questionable management methods. The conclusions of the audit commissioned by the CREA following this investigation reported « obvious dysfunctions » and « inappropriate behavior »
A few days ago, the city of Nantes announced that it had forwarded the conclusions of the report to the Public Prosecutor and that it would cease all collaboration with René Martin; the Loire-Atlantique department, for its part, did not wish to renew its subsidy. It is against this backdrop that the CREA Board of Directors yesterday received by post the resignation of its director.
