The 2014/15 concert season marks the beginning of a new era, evident in the first official concert of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. The new Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada is celebrating his début with an open-air concert. Artist in Residence is the Moldavian violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, who will be giving guest performances in four concert programmes. The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra will give a total of 80 concerts in the coming concert season. The concerts will be broadcast on hr2-kultur and for the most part also transmitted internationally through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Furthermore, all Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra concerts in the Alte Oper are available as a video livestream on-line at www.hr-Sinfonieorchester.de and concert.arte.tv/de.
Besides Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the long-standing Music Director and current Conductor Laureate Paavo Järvi will conduct the orchestra, as well as Neeme Järvi, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Philippe Herreweghe, Manfred Honeck and Ton Koopman. Renowned artists are on the list of soloists: Anna Larsson, Nathalie Stutzmann, Nicholas Angelich and Gautier Capuçon are returning to the orchestra, in addition to soloists such as James Ehnes, Jorge Luis Prats and renowned actors including Thomas Thieme, André Jung and Udo Wachtveitl who will give guest performances.
The start of the 2014/15 season brings with it the start of the recently founded Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy. Initially five stipendiaries will be trained in the programme, rising to ten in the medium term. The academy’s objective is to train especially talented young instrumentalists and to prepare them for success in renowned orchestras.
