Maurice Ravel

A team of French musicologists and conductors are working on a scientific edition of Maurice Ravel’s works. The first volume is dedicated to the Boléro. It is based on the complete orchestral manuscript of 1928 kept at The Morgan Library (New York), the preparatory manuscripts (Bibliothèque nationale de France, British Library and Archives of the Palais Princier de Monaco) and many sources presented for the first time, among others the historical scores by Maurice Ravel, Piero Coppola and Arturo Toscanini.

Numerous features analyse the impact of the first recordings on the subsequent performances, the complete discography and many more.

There are further chapters about the ballet version from 1928 and the concert version from 1929.
