The Tchaikovsky International Competition has announced the names of the six finalists in the violin section. It’s a pretty Russian-Asian panel, aged 20-33, all of the candidates being known as prize-winners of other prestigious competitions.

Pavel Milyukov (31, Russia)
Bomsori Kim (25, South Korea)
Haik Kazazyan (33, Russia)

For the Final round, each violin candidate will present Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto plus one concerto of their own choice.

The jury comprises: Salvatore Accardo, Yuri Bashmet, Maxim Vengerov, Liana Isakadze, Leonidas Kavakos, Ilya Kaler, Boris Kushnir, Mihaela Martin, Vadim Repin, Roman Simovic, Viktor Tretyakov, Maxim Fedotov, Vera Tsu Wei Ling, James Ehnes, Michael Haefliger and Nikolaj Znaider.
