Mit seiner Spieldauer von fast einer Dreiviertelstunde ist Schuberts Erstes, posthum veröffentlichtes Klaviertrio das Hauptwerk dieser CD. Die feinfühlige Interpretation des französischen Trio Talweg wird geprägt von einer gesunden Mischung von Wärme, Grazie und verhaltener Trauer, was den sehr intimen Charakter unterstreicht.Das erste Trio ist ein Spätwerk von 1827. Es entstand also im Jahr vor Schuberts Tod, parallel zum Liederzyklus Die Winterreise. Vielleicht brauchte Schubert ein leichteres Projekt, um sich von seiner Krankheit und seiner Melancholie abzulenken.

In der Interpretation des Trio Talweg klingt nichts aufgesetzt, sondern die Musik strömt und fließt ganz selbstverständlich, nicht ganz so kontrastreich als in anderen Interpretationen.

Sehr gut kommt das Notturno zur Geltung, und die Transkription des Lieds Auf dem Strom wirft einen neuen, bereichernden Blick auf dieses Stück.

With its playing time of almost three quarters of an hour, Schubert’s First Piano Trio, published posthumously, is the main work on this CD. The sensitive interpretation by the French Trio Talweg is marked by a healthy mix of warmth, grace and restrained sadness, underscoring its very intimate character. The first trio is a late work from 1827, so it was composed the year before his death, in parallel with the song cycle Die Winterreise. Perhaps Schubert needed a lighter project to distract himself from his illness and melancholy.
In the interpretation of Trio Talweg nothing sounds contrived, but the music flows naturally, yet not quite as contrasting as in other interpretations.
The Notturno comes off very well, and the transcription of the song Auf dem Strom casts a new, enriching view on this piece.
