Music Director Zubin Mehta
The city of Florence has named Zubin Mehta (79) Principal conductor emeritus from 2017, while Fabio Luisi was chosen as his successor at the helm of ‘Maggio Musicale’ from 2018. Mehta was Principal Conctor since 1985. Luisi (56) serves as General Music Director of the Zurich Opera and Principal Conductor of the Metropolitan Opera. He will be Principal Conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (DNSO) from the 2017-18 season on.
