Der kanadische Pianist Lucas Wong spielt in Weltersteinspielungen vier Sonaten des Berliner Komponisten  Wilhelm Taubert (1811-1891). Seine Sonaten mögen von Beethoven und in den langsamen Sätzen von Rossini oder Mendelssohn inspiriert sein, sie klingen aber mit ihren vielen Ideen originell. Es gibt in ihnen viel gute Laune (so im kecken Eingangs-Allegro der 4. Sonate), und sogar Humor, so etwa im Rondo der ersten Sonate.

Lucas Wong wird dem Ideenreichtum der Sonaten mit einem inspirierten und sowohl lyrischen wie auch kraftvollen Spiel gerecht.

Canadian pianist Lucas Wong presents world premiere recordings of four sonatas by Berlin composer Wilhelm Taubert (1811–1891). Though inspired by Beethoven and, in the slow movements, by Rossini or Mendelssohn, the sonatas sound original, full of good humor (as in the cheeky opening allegro of the fourth sonata) and even humor (as in the rondo of the first sonata).

Wong’s inspired, both lyrical and powerful performance does fully justice to the sonatas’ wealth of ideas.
