Echoes of the Grand Canal; Hasse: Alta Nubes Illustrate; Platti: Cembalokonzert F-Dur + Trio Sonata g-Moll; Vivaldi: In furore iustissimae irae, RV626 + Trio Sonata, RV60; Gajarek: Armida disperata; Philippe Grisvard, Diana Haller, Ensemble Diderot, Johannes Pramsohler; 1 CD Audax ADX13721; Aufnahme 02/2019, Veröffentlichung 10/2019 (78') - Rezension von Norbert Tischer

Johannes Pramsohler and his ensemble Diderot (here with soloists on the violin as well as on the harpsichord and a mezzo-soprano) dedicate their latest CD to music from the time of Venitian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
« Illuminated by the golden glow of the sun, the cloud radiates in splendour. It lights up and reddens. » The text of the Hasse motet is something like the description of a cloud painted by Tiepolo, the text booklet of the CD says.
The programme includes, as so often with Pramsohler, works recorded for the first time, Platti’s somewhat pale harpsichord concerto and Gajarek’s cantata Armida disperata, but the album is dominated by Vivaldi’s Trio Sonata and In furore iustissimae, and by Hasse’s Alta Nubes Illustrata. These works get first-class performances and sparkle imaginatively, even if Diana Haller’s voice, although quite expressive and virtuoso, sometimes sounds a little sharp.
