Comparing figures before and after the opening of Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, the concert hall has tripled the number of concert-goers in the north-German city, the hall says in a press release. In the 2018/2019 season a total of more than 1.25 million people attended concerts either at the Elbphilharmonie or the Laeiszhalle (2015/16 season: around 390,000 visitors to the Laeiszhalle).

At the Elbphilharmonie alone, 904,000 people attended 731 events. The percentage of seats sold for the concerts in the Grand Hall was 98.9 percent, while the figure for the Recital Hall was 91.7 percent.

2.7 million visitors were counted on the observation deck, the Plaza.

While the artistic operations of HamburgMusik very nearly come out even, with just a small loss of €30,000, the Elbphilharmonie und Laeiszhalle Betriebsgesellschaft made a profit of €1.4 million.
