The winners of Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition are Russian soprano Aida Garifullina (26) and Chinese Bariton Ao Li (25), First Prize, French soprano Julie Fuchs (28) and Italian baritone Simone Piazzola (28), Second Prize, American Soprano Kathryn Lewek and Zach Borchevsky (Third Prize) The audience awards went to Ms. Lewek and Mr. Piazzola.
Operalia was founded in 1993 by Plácido Domingo to discover and help launch the careers of the most promising young opera singers of today.
