Poétiques de l’Instant; Claude Debussy: Streichquartett g-Moll op. 10 + Sonate für Flöte, Viola & Harfe + Proses Lyriques; Yves Balmer: Fragments Souleves par le Vent; Jodie Devos, Sopran), Juliette Hurel (Flöte), Emmanuel Ceysson (Harfe), Quatuor Voce; 1 CD Alpha 798; Aufnahme 04.2021, Veröffentlichung 06.05.2022 (74'49) - Rezension von Remy Franck

Quatuor Voce plays the first two movements and also the jagged final movement of Debussy’s only string quartet from 1893 fulminantly, urgently pulsating, while the Andantino is enchantingly sensual.
The 1915 Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp, featuring Guillaume Becker on viola, flutist Juliette Hurel, and harpist Emmanuel Ceysson, is heard in a no less inspired interpretation.
Jodie Devos sings the Proses Lyriques, four settings of Debussy’s own texts, with the piano part arranged for quartet by Yves Balmer. This is a successful transcription, as the string lines charmingly ensnare the sensual voice.
Born in 1978, Yves Balmer composed Fragments Soulevés par le Vent, three short miniatures with delicate, evocative textures commissioned by Quatuor Voce as a counterpart to Debussy’s quartet. The quartet plays them with commitment and pleasant rhetoric.
