Mit Paris – Hollywood veröffentlicht Warner Classics ein Album, das sich durch Alexandre Desplats umfangreiche Kollektion von Filmmusiken bewegt, mit bekannten und weniger bekannten Titeln.
Ausschnitte aus The Imitation Game stechen als Höhepunkte hervor, ebenso wie jene von The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Eine königliche Suite, die Themen aus The King’s Speech, The Queen und The Lost King miteinander verknüpft, gibt dem Album einen königlichen Anstrich, ohne jemals in Pomp zu kippen.
Hervorragend ist auch die Musik aus The Grand Budapest Hotel, für die Desplat mit einem Oscar ausgezeichnet wurde. Daneben gibt es die Monumentalklänge, die Desplat zu Blockbustern wie Harry Potter und die Heiligtümer des Todes oder Godzilla beigesteuert hat.
Ohne das dazugehörige Bild zeigen diese Titel, wie wirkungsvoll und suggestiv eine Filmmusik sein kann, wenn sie von einem guten Orchester effektvoll gespielt wird.

Excerpts from The Imitation Game stand out as highlights, as do those from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. A royal suite, which combines themes from The King’s Speech, The Queen and The Lost King, gives the album a royal feel without ever tipping over into pomp.
The music from The Grand Budapest Hotel, for which Desplat was awarded an Oscar, is also outstanding. There are also the monumental sounds that Desplat has contributed to blockbusters such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or Godzilla.
Without the accompanying image, these titles show how effective and evocative a film score can be when played effectively by a good orchestra.
