Czech conductor Robert Jindra, 44, will become music director of the National Theatre Opera in Prague at the beginning of next season. He will replace Jaroslav Kyzlinek. Jindra was already Music Director in the 2013/14 season. He resigned after only one year due to disagreements with the opera’s then artistic director Petr Kofron.
Per Boye Hansen, the current artistic director says: « It is a great honour and pleasure for me to welcome Robert Jindra to the opera’s management team. With his extensive knowledge and deep love for the National Theatre, combined with his extensive experience abroad, he seems destined for this job. »
Jindra has been working at the National Theatre in Prague since 2001. From February 2010 to November 2014, he was the music director of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, and guest-conducted at several opera houses and orchestras. This year he will also be the principal guest conductor of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
