Yubeen Kim

The Flute Jury of the ‘Concours de Genève’ announced the prizewinners of this year’s Flute Competition: Adriana Ferreira (25, Portugal) and Yubeen Kim (17, South Korea) both won Second Prize. Yubeen Kim also won both the Audience Prize and the Young Audience Prize. The Third Prize was awarded to 25-year old Russian Elena Badaeva. The First Prize was not awarded.

Since 2012, Adriana Ferreira is Second Solo Flute at the Orchestre National de France in Paris. Yubeen Kim is currently studying in France.

Emily Beynon, Chairwoman of the Flute Jury, comments: “It has been a great honour and privilege to listen to all these wonderful young players! The future of flute playing is in very good hands with this next generation of artists!”

The Final round of the piano competition takes place tonight on Tuesday December 2nd at 8 pm at the Victoria Hall. Candidates will perform a Concerto with orchestra at free choice among the following: Beethoven (N°3, 4, 5), Chopin (N°1, 2), Liszt (N°1, 2), Saint-Saëns (N° 2, 4), Schumann, Prokofiev (N°2, 3) or Bartók (N°3)). They will perform with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, conducted by Alexander Shelley. The second final will also be broadcast live on the Swiss national radio (Espace 2) and by video streaming on RTS.ch and ARTE Concert.
